Dry hills 4,500 - 8,000 ft. elevation, growing 20-40 ft. tall. If its trunk is more than 3 ft. in diameter it may have seen the last millennium. Beautiful plated bark. Dense foliage. Please plant for the next millennium. Gordon planted two at our office & though known as slow these are growing faster & more beautiful than I. Fall sow or cold stratify 1-4 months.  Zone 5
