Blue-green, thick & spiny sword-like leaves form a basal rosette about 18" across. After many years a tall flowering spike can shoot up to 10 ft. After flowering, the mother plant dies. Off-shoots from the base continue to grow, forming a colony. Very hardy to -20º F). Sow seed in spring.  Zone 4
